Targol is an Architect and Urban Planner with an ongoing involvement in academia through lecturing and studio teaching at the
University of Melbourne in the fields of Economies of Cities and Regions and Placemaking. Targol emigrated from Iran to Australia
in 2013. She studied Architecture in Iran(1998),Urban Planning at the University of Melbourne (2013) and for the last decade
focused on the relationship between people and place. Her passion is the built environment and social justice. Targol first heard of
Architects for Peace in Iran and when she arrived in Australia joined the organisation in 2012. She immediately became a member
of the Committee of Management and in 2015 was elected President. She held this position for two years with a focus on
implementing the organisation’s strategic plan, reconnecting with old members and actively promoting the organisation’s values
through public events. She lives and works in Melbourne as a Project Manager for Local Government, supervising public realm
improvement projects, from community engagement to design and construction.
