We are Architects for Peace
Architects for Peace is a humanitarian, not for profit incorporated professional organisation, under the Associations Incorporation Act 1981 Section 7. Architects for Peace (arch-peace) aims to provide an alternative forum for debating political, environmental and social issues in the professional urban context.
Team

Eva is a public art curator and commissioner with a background in architecture, urban design and art history, and an ongoing involvement in academic research and education. Eva spent her childhood living between Spain and Australia. For the last ten years Eva has been Public Art Program Manager at the City of Sydney, contributing to the cultural transformation of the city through commissioning temporary and permanent public art works and managing the significant collection. She is one of the founding members of Architects for Peace, the Art and Peace Commission of the International Peace Researchers Association, and the Super Sydney project. Eva has curated several exhibitions, presented academic papers at national and international conferences, and taught and lectured in public art, critical social practice, architecture, and landscape architecture. Eva’s current research is on curating and exhibiting architecture, and in 2016 she was awarded a Byera Hadley Travelling Scholarship by the NSW Architects Registration Board to gain an international perspective in this field. @curating.architecture

Targol is an Architect and Urban Planner with an ongoing involvement in academia through lecturing and studio teaching at the University of Melbourne in the fields of Economies of Cities and Regions and Placemaking. Targol emigrated from Iran to Australia in 2013. She studied Architecture in Iran(1998),Urban Planning at the University of Melbourne (2013) and for the last decade focused on the relationship between people and place. Her passion is the built environment and social justice. Targol first heard of Architects for Peace in Iran and when she arrived in Australia joined the organisation in 2012. She immediately became a member of the Committee of Management and in 2015 was elected President. She held this position for two years with a focus on implementing the organisation's strategic plan, reconnecting with old members and actively promoting the organisation's values through public events. She lives and works in Melbourne as a Project Manager for Local Government, supervising public realm improvement projects, from community engagement to design and construction.

Beatriz is an Academic (PhD University of Melbourne), Urban Designer (MA University of Melbourne) and Architect (RMIT University). Beatriz founded Architects for Peace in Melbourne, 2003. She emigrated from Chile to Australia in 1987. In 1993 Beatriz volunteered with Australian Volunteers Abroad to teach architecture in Managua, Nicaragua. Returning to Australia in 1996, Beatriz practiced as an architect/urban designer, while studio teaching at various universities and worked on a project in the newly independent East Timor. Since 2012, Beatriz lives and works in Santiago, Chile as an academic (Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism, University of Chile) where she was Director of International Relations and Academic Development (2015-2018). She is currently an academic, Institute of Heritage and Architectural History, University of Chile and Adjunct Professor, RMIT University School of Architecture. In her spare time, she is a jurist (International Union of Architects), Steering Committee Member (Association of Pacific Rim Universities), Editor (Journal of Architectural Research) and a member of the evaluation committee, (Chilean National Science and Technology Research Commission).
Beatriz Maturana

Anthony is a Designer (Monash University), Visual Artist (RMIT University) and holds a PhD (RMIT School of Architecture). Anthony is one of the founding members of Architects for Peace. He is an academic, researcher through art practice, and creative producer. From 1998- 2011 he worked in cultural development for local governments in Melbourne. As a visual artist working in public space 2003-present he has been commissioned, and independently created, permanent and temporary interventions in public space. He developed the studio teaching methods for RMIT Master of Arts Art in Public Space where he lectured and taught from 2008-2014. Since 2015, he has lived and worked in Santiago, Chile, as university guest lecturer, independent writer and creator concerning the cultural and historical specificity of public space. He has exhibited at the Design Hub, Melbourne 2014, at the Museo Benjamín Vicuña Mackenna, Santiago, 2016-17 and his inclusion in the University of Melbourne Project Anywhere 2020 research program, each concern the modern city and its late-life crisis.
